Realtime Recognition Parameters

Realtime Algorithms differ from algorithms that are used in Offline Recognition. This topic describes the difference.

Realtime recognition uses its own algorithm for Pitch->MIDI processing. Note length and exact velocity is not yet determined when the note starts to play, and for this reason notes are not filtered by duration or velocity in realtime. All notes are played, no matter how short they are, and velocity of all notes is the same. Minimal Note Duration is applied to the recorded MIDI notes only, so saved MIDI files differ from notes that are played in real-time.

All other parameters from Pitch->MIDI Tab are ignored. MIDI file options are taken from MIDI Options dialog.

Equalizer settings are also taken into account when performing realtime recognition.

Most realtime recognition parameters are available directly in Realtime Module window.

Noise Gate parameter sets an absolute cutoff for silent notes. All notes that are quieter than the Noise Gate are taken away.

It is always recommended to play with different recognition settings to achieve better performance.

Realtime Algorithms

Polyphonic - Sensors is similar to "Advanced Sensors" offline algorithm.

Polyphony determines relative cut-off for simultaneous notes. The higher the value, the more notes can sound at the same time.

Monophonic - Correlators is a monophonic algorithm that uses correlators. It has no additional setup.

Monophonic - Sensors is a monophonic modification of the Sensors algorithm.

Harmonic Filter is useful to suppress overtones that are recognized as notes, but setting this parameter to a very high value can lead to almost all of the required notes missing.
