Realtime Module |
Realtime Recognition window allows you to recognize incoming audio into MIDI notes in real time. Realtime Recognition algorithm differs from the algorithm for previously recorded audio recognition and requires different recognition settings adjustment. Realtime Module is called by pressing
On the right side of window streaming spectrogram is located. Spectra is displayed in nuances of blue and recognized notes are displayed with orange. Spectrogram allows to visually estimate recognition accuracy and make decision about changing recognition parameters.
The following options and settings are also available:
Recognize now checkbox enables Realtime Recognition of the incoming audio. During recording this checkbox is fixed as enabled. Play MIDI Notes checkbox enables instant simultaneous playback of the detected notes via MIDI. Recorded Data indicator shows you the duration of the recorded MIDI sequence. << and >> buttons show and hide the sliding spectrogram.
Algorithm list lets you choose among several recognition algorithms. Chosen algorithm enables extra controls for adjustment. Polyphony slider appears when "Polyphonic - Sensors" algorithm is selected. It allows you to adjust the threshold for detecting several notes that sound simultaneously. Harmonic Filter slider appears when "Monophonic - Sensors" algorithm is selected. It allows you to avoid capturing of the overtones instead of fundamentals.
Noise Gate slider is common for all algorithms. It allows to adjust the noise filter to prevent undesirable sounds being recognized as notes. Adjust it carefully, in order not to lose the essential sounds.
Level indicator shows you the level of incoming sound that can be adjusted by the system mixer (see Mixer Settings button). Recommended signal level is approximately -20dB to -5dB.
You may adjust the recognition parameters without breaking the recognition process, all changes are applied immediately. However when recording MIDI notes some controls are disabled.
To finish recognition process and proceed with the recognized MIDI notes press Done. The new file will be opened in a new MIDI window.
To cancel the recognition and discard any recorded notes press Cancel.
Note: Use Audio File Recognition whenever you can first record a file and then recognize it - it will yield better results. Realtime recognition module is designed for the case when instant MIDI note appearance is necessary. |
